Strengthening Economic Ties: Sri Lankan Delegation Promotes Port City Colombo to Qatari Real Estate Investors
In a key initiative aimed at fostering stronger business ties and enhancing investment opportunities between Sri Lanka and Qatar, a special delegation from Port City Colombo visited major real estate companies in Doha from September 3 to 5, 2024. The visit was organized by the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Doha in collaboration with the Qatar-Sri Lanka Business Council (QSBC).
The delegation was led by Tian Zheng, General Manager of Investment Promotion and Marketing, and Asiri Peramunegegama, Senior Manager of Investment Promotion and Marketing. Their mission focused on promoting real estate investment opportunities in Sri Lanka’s flagship project, Port City Colombo—a vibrant international hub for commerce, finance, and tourism. During their visit, the delegation held high-level discussions with leading Qatari real estate companies, exploring potential partnerships and investments across various sectors.
Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Qatar, Mohamed Mafaz Mohideen, initiated the delegation’s visit, underscoring the importance of strengthening economic ties between the two nations. QSBC President Jhon Prasad highlighted that Port City Colombo provides businesses with seamless access to European, Asian, and global markets at competitive costs. The QSBC extended an invitation to real estate investors to explore exciting opportunities in the development of hotels, resorts, luxury villas, residential complexes, and high-rise commercial towers within Port City.
These discussions served as a platform to share insights on the investment potential of Port City Colombo, advancing Sri Lanka’s ambition to attract global investors and create a cutting-edge, future-ready business ecosystem.
