Colombo Stock Exchange Ranks as Asia’s Second-Best Performing Equity Index
As of October 25, 2024, the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) has been recognized as the second-best performing equity index in Asia, with the All Share Price Index (ASPI) recording an impressive year-to-date return of 29.65% in USD (Source: Bloomberg.com). This remarkable performance highlights the resilience of Sri Lanka’s capital market and its increasing attractiveness to both local and international investors.
For the week ending October 25, 2024, the daily average turnover reached Rs. 3.058 billion, with the last two trading days (Thursday and Friday) seeing daily turnovers surpassing Rs. 4.7 billion.
During the same week, the ASPI closed at 12,517.58 points, just one point shy of the year’s record high. Additionally, the S&P SL20 index, which tracks the top 20 largest and most liquid stocks, also exhibited strong gains, closing at 3,759.30 points.
